Generally speaking, there are three main types of boots: heeled, flat and functional.
Heeled boots are a great swap for pumps. They’ll elongate the leg and lend a “dressier” feel to any outfit, from jeans and a tee shirt to a little black dress.
Flat boots are more casual than their heeled sisters. They’re a perfect fit for casual jeans or leggings; and add a really chic counterpoint to a dress or skirt.
And finally, functional boots. Living in St. Paul, where snow coats the ground from November until March, a pair of functional boots is essential. There’s no point in slogging through slush and ice in high heels or even cute flats – instead, pick up a pair of boots designed to handle the elements. I’m certainly not above carrying my shoes with me and swapping my boots out for them once I arrive at my destination.
