As Seen on Twin Cities Live - Pretty Now, Pretty Later

I was on Twin Cities Live today, talking about a few of my absolute favorite products.  The segment concept was this: Products that will make you look great now, and even better later.  So short term and long term results.

I showcased products from some of my all-time favorite brands, like Epitome Skincare, Greenbody Greenplanet, and dpHUE.  Each of these brands holds a revered spot in my beauty aresenal for living up to their product claims, being MN-based beauty companies AND female owned companies.

For some reason, I fumbled the word "peptides" during our chat.  Do you ever do that?  Totally mispronounce a word you use all the time?  Anyway.... Elizabeth and I got up such a good chat that we didn't get to talk about the last two products I'd brought with me.  They're my long term and fast-fixes for dealing with acne.

This product line is comparable to Pro-Activ....I swear!  My husband has acne and he used Pro-Active, obtaining great results with his skin.  But he wanted something that was less expensive and more readily available than the specialty Pro-Activ system - and started using AcneFree's system.  It's a fraction of the cost, is available at Wal-Mart, Target and Wal-greens - and works like crazy!  I don't have acne but when a blemish pops up, I reach for this three-step system and see results within days.

When I do get a blemish, covering it up is the first order of business.  And I always used to go about it all wrong...I'd dip my finger into concealer and try to pat it onto the spot.  Or I'd load up a flat concealer brush and try to tap the product onto my skin.  But after watching this video by makeup artist Lisa Eldridge, I started using her method.  Gently swirl concealer on with a blending brush and then carefully diffuse the edges.  Such a difference!  I like the E 25 Blending Brush by Sigma Beauty because their quality rivals the industry standard for brushes (Mac) but the price point is great.  Plus this blending brush has the perfect amount of bristles loosely packed into the head.  (And it's also another MN-based company!).

For the show, I wore a maxi dress from Wal-Mart; a striped cropped cardigan from Forever 21; a beaded necklace from Mark; and sandals from Via Spiga.
